Allow me to explain…
Why did I name this blog PSJobethWrites?
My reasons are two-fold.
Reason #1:
My last name is Pascual-Saqueton, making my last initials P.S.
Reason #2:
Wordplay makes up at least a quarter of my personality. P.S. is also known as “postscript”, or the message written at the very end of a letter. It’s the final little bit of information. This is usually an afterthought that the writer forgot to include in the main piece. P.S. can be used as a penpal’s version of “by the way”.
The fact that I write tends to be the P.S. or the postscript of my life. When people first start getting to know me, it isn’t the first thing that comes up (or that I tend to bring up). It’s actually the last thing I discuss, if I ever even do. I talk about my family, friends, nursing career, or random other hobbies before I talk about my writing. It goes something like “I love dogs and playing with them, fashion and curating my outfits, flowers and making arrangements, and I recently started making earrings as a postpartum sanity hobby… also, I write. You?”
Obviously, I’ve been relatively shy about my love for writing in the past. Whether it is imposter-syndrome or a fear of expectation that I better do well, especially in something I love, there is an intimidating aspect to writing. My track record would show that I have given in to the heaviness of that intimidation disappointingly often and didn’t pick up my pen, no matter how much I wanted to. With the name “P.S. Jobeth Writes”, I’m leaning into the funny fact that “Oh by the way I love to write!” By choosing levity and lightheartedness, I find my writing much freer, genuine, and authentic. And this, friends, is my creativity’s sweet spot.
So yes, contrary to first impression beliefs, I write.
And I would love to share it with you.
P.S. Thank you so much for being here.
